Some preparation is required for all files prior to printing - this is called, "Pre-press." It is merely a way for us to make sure the files are print ready. After receiving the data through either a disk or our FTP (FILE TRANSFER PROTCOL) site, we pre-flight the job. During this stage we find out of we can work with the data files, plus it allows us to see if there is missing artwork and fonts. Once it has been determined that the files are workable we send the data through a program
that paginates the book in proper order. Proofs for each section, called signatures, are produced as well as the proofs for the covers and any specialty items such as inserts, tabs, etc. The proofs are then sent to the customer for final approval. |
